Setting Up Proxy Mode in the Happ App
Unlike a full VPN tunnel, Happ's Proxy mode only routes the apps you choose through the server. The access key doesn't change for this — it's the same one issued by the service's Telegram bot. Here's the full path, from installing the app to binding one specific program.
What to have ready before you start
You'll need an active access key or subscription link from the Happ Telegram bot, along with the app installed on your device. Haven't installed it yet? Grab the build for your platform on /en/setup/ and add the key the same way you would for a standard VPN connection.
Turning on Proxy step by step
Here's the sequence:
- Make sure Happ already has an active access key added.
- Switch the connection mode from VPN to Proxy in the app's settings.
- The app spins up a local proxy on Xray-core and displays the address and port to connect to.
- Open an IP-checking site to confirm the address now matches the server's.

The Happ Proxy Utility for desktop
Windows, macOS, and Linux users get a dedicated program called Happ Proxy Utility. It saves you from typing the address and port into every app manually — toggle proxying on or off in one click, and bind specific programs to it. Download the utility and read the guide on /en/proxy-utility/.
Routing one specific app through the proxy
Once Proxy is on in Happ, copy the displayed local address and port and paste them into the network settings of the browser or app you want to route — or let Happ Proxy Utility handle it if it supports automatic binding. Everything else on the device keeps going straight out, bypassing the server.
Proxy won't connect: what to check
The usual culprits are an expired access key or a program that relies on its own network settings and ignores the system proxy. Request a fresh key from the service's Telegram bot and double-check the app's settings; if that doesn't fix it, visit /en/support/not-working/.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new key just for Proxy mode?
No — the same access key or subscription link you already use for VPN in Happ works for Proxy too.
What does the Happ Proxy Utility actually do?
It makes managing the proxy on desktop easier — toggling it on or off and binding chosen apps without typing the address and port by hand.
Can VPN and Proxy run at the same time?
No, they're switchable modes in the app — only one is active at once — but you can flip between them whenever you like.
An app can't see the proxy — what now?
Match the address and port in the app's network settings against what Happ displays, and confirm your access key is still valid.
