Happ Configurations Explained: Subscription vs Single Config
Every connection in Happ runs on an Xray-core configuration — a set of parameters that tells the app which server address and protocol to use. That configuration is issued only through the service Telegram bot, and it reaches the app one of two ways: as a single subscription link or as an individual config. Which one you use affects how convenient and stable the connection feels.
Subscription link or single config — the difference
There are two ways to add access to Happ:
- Single config — fixed parameters for exactly one server, with no automatic updates.
- Subscription link — bundles several servers at once and refreshes itself, so the app picks up new addresses without manual edits.
Most users find the subscription link easier to live with — it needs less upkeep and makes switching servers simpler.
What a configuration actually contains
A configuration is, in effect, an encrypted bundle of data for Xray-core: server address, protocol, port, and encryption keys. The Happ app reads these parameters to build a secure connection. Without a valid configuration, there's simply no connection, which is why it should come only from the service's Telegram bot rather than an unverified source.
Where keys are issued and stored
Every key and configuration you're issued is tied to your account inside the service Telegram bot, where you can also see which links are currently active and request new ones. More on this at /en/keys/, and the general logic of working with configurations in the app is covered at /en/configurations/.
Adding a configuration to the app
Copy the key or link the Happ Telegram bot gives you and add it to the app — either by importing the link or scanning a QR code, depending on the platform. Step-by-step instructions for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and Smart TV are on /en/setup/.
When it's worth switching configurations
If a server is sluggish or the connection keeps dropping, try another configuration within the same subscription link — that's usually faster than troubleshooting a single fixed config. Browse the server list and picking tips at /en/servers/.
Frequently asked questions
What makes a subscription link better than a single config?
It bundles several servers and updates itself automatically, while a single config only holds fixed parameters for one server.
Where do I get a Happ configuration from?
Only from the service Telegram bot, which issues both keys and subscription links.
Can several configurations be stored at once?
Yes, the app can hold multiple links or configs and switch between them.
Does a configuration need manual updates?
A subscription link updates itself; a single config sometimes needs to be swapped out by hand.
